About us

The inception of the Bell institute of hotel management (BIHM)  began with the expansion of the Bell group into the hospitality industry in 1993. The goal was to provide a dining experience that had never been seen before in the city of Sivakasi. This chain of hotels then expanded to Sivakasi, Madurai and Allepy. Over the years however the founding fathers  gathered a lot of experience and knowledge about the catering industry which they believed could be passed on to future generations of industry professionals. This thought was turned into a reality under the Darling Chelladurai educational and charitable trust in the year 2006 in the form of a sprawling 10 acre facility, in the form of the BIHM.

The Bell institute of hotel management and catering is a combination of the right amount of Tradition, good equipments; with a good experienced set of faculty, technique of course the right medium and atmosphere to bring all these elements together. We at the BIHM believe that the secret to the perfect recipe and the development of individuals of outstanding caliber in the catering industry have a lot in common.

At BIHM we recognize that while the Infrastructure is important, the only way for a student to reach their true potential is through the right mentoring and by following a methodical process of development. This philosophy is reflected in our classrooms where audio-visual aids help in imparting a greater level of clarity to the students. Visiting faculty is brought in from the Bell Hotel group’s vast reservoir of experience. They are able to give students the benefit of their experience and working knowledge which cannot be obtained from text books alone. In an effort to keep abreast with the rapid pace of the industry’s growth faculty are also invited from India and Abroad.

Emphasis is given to the holistic development of an individual, to produce all rounded and confident professionals. Personal grooming and deportment are stressed upon along with public speaking and journalism. There is wide gamut of extracurricular activities available which include Swimming, Snooker, Basketball, Dance, Drama, a gymnasium, Cricket, Field trips and Table Tennis Academic progress is monitored through a combination of projects, assignments and periodic examinations. The students are graded based on academic performance along with participation in Co-curricular and extracurricular activities to ensure that the emphasis on holistic development is maintained along the duration of the course.

The proof of the pudding is in the taste and the result of this elaborate synthesis BIHM has been able to boast of a 100% placement record with national and international placements.
